One recent instance highlights how the company embraces innovation while addressing client challenges to provide optimal results. A client in Massachusetts sought an off-grid solution for their Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) to charge devices during emergencies. They were looking for a solar-powered unit roughly the size of an airline beverage cart that could charge multiple devices at once. After several months of research, a viable solution didn’t exist.

Meyers Emergency Management conducted an extensive global search for suppliers and finally found a solar company in North Carolina specializing in end-user products like solar picnic tables and bus shelters. By sharing the client’s needs, both companies collaborated to develop the Emergency Power Unit (EPU-824), an 800-watt solar system capable of charging 24 devices simultaneously. This system can charge up to 490 devices on a single battery cycle. While not the size of an airline beverage cart, the unit stands less than 6’ tall, and approximately 2.5’ square and has all of the features every emergency manager dreams about.

Today, the EPU-824 has become part of the emergency management community and Meyers Emergency Management aims to expand its availability through rental services. The particular project exemplifies the company’s approach to deal with client’s specific needs, developing new solutions that drive advancements in emergency management and enhance community resilience.
